SENIOR GRANTS OFFICER: NATIONAL OFFICE

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
This is a dynamic role which presents great opportunity for an experienced professional with experience in a NGO/sim environment reporting directly to the Director of National Programmes. The primary responsibilities of this position are:

  • To work with senior RHRU staff to prepare funding proposals and grant applications
  • To research and analyse donor organisations to identify likely funding sources for specific projects and programmes
  • To maintain a database of donors and funding opportunities and match these to RHRUs programmatic work

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Researches and identifies new corporate, trusts, foundations and individual funding prospects
  • Cultivates relationships  and develops networks with potential donors 
  • Identifies funding opportunities and new programme areas to match institutional priorities
  • Assists senior staff to compile, write, and edit grant applications exhibiting strong writing skills and a high-level command of grammar and spelling
  • Develops individual grant proposals in accordance with each grant-making organisation's preferences and follow exactly each grant-making organisation's guidelines 
  • Reviews the budget of a project or programme for which funding is sought and makes recommendations to better present it to donors
  • Maintains and implements funding calendar activities, including cultivation activities
  • Where required, writes reports to government, foundations, corporates and other funders
  • Acts as liaison with programme staff and National office in terms of the proposal process
  • Experience in securing US government (NIH, USAID) and EU grants within the health sector is essential


EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE:

  • (Hon)/ (Masters)/ equiv qualified candidates should possess excellent writing and computer skills (Microsoft Office Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel), and database management skills
  • Highly organised with the ability to implement systems and follow-up processes
  • Previous experience will demonstrate a proven track record in securing new funding opportunities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of research, and the ability to distinguish and identify funding opportunities for special programmes

PERSONAL ASSISTANT TO DIRECTOR: NATIONAL PROGRAMMES


PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Exciting opportunity for an executive PA with high work ethics & proven track record who will be required to work closely with the Director: National Programmes and other staff members within RHRU's National Office. Primary duties will be to act as the Director’s first point of contact with people from both inside and outside the organisation, and to provide administrative support to the Director.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
KEY DUTIES:

  • Screening telephone calls, enquiries and requests, and handling them when appropriate
  • Meeting and greeting visitors at all levels of seniority
  • Organising and maintaining diaries and making appointments
  • Dealing with incoming email, faxes and post
  • Taking minutes where appropriate 
  • Organizing and attending meetings when required
  • Devising and maintaining office systems, including data management, filing, stationery, etc.
  • Managing National Office and National Programme procurement
  • Arranging travel and accommodation

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE:

  • • A minimum of two-years experience in a related job is a pre-requisite
    • Relevant Diploma/ sim
    • Advanced MS Office
    • Drivers license & own vehicle essential
